Our capability extends beyond conventional tripod-and-winch arrangements. With experienced personnel and an extensive range of rescue, access and casualty-recovery equipment, we can support everything from straightforward vertical entries to deep, complex or restricted-access work.
Rescue provision built around the entry
Confined spaces vary considerably. A recovery system suitable for a shallow chamber may be entirely unsuitable for a tank, silo, culvert, shaft or long service tunnel.
We consider the geometry of the space, entry and exit points, anticipated hazards, working distances, casualty movement and available anchor positions. Where access is offset, horizontal, inclined or obstructed, we can combine powered winching, rope systems and high-directional anchors to create a practical access and recovery arrangement around the structure.

Electric winches provide accurate, controlled lifting and lowering over greater depths and distances while reducing the manual effort associated with conventional recovery systems. This level of control is particularly useful when lowering entrants through narrow tank openings or moving personnel, equipment and casualties through deep shafts, inclined structures or extended access routes.
Where suitable fixed anchor points are unavailable, modular high-directional systems such as the SMC TerrAdaptor can be configured around the structure. Combined with rope systems, winches and specialist rigging, this gives us considerably greater flexibility than a conventional tripod arrangement.
More than emergency standby
Effective rescue cover requires more than placing a team beside the entry point. Before work begins, our team confirms the entry arrangements, recovery routes, communications, equipment configuration and foreseeable rescue scenarios. We work alongside the site team throughout the entry and can respond if conditions, access arrangements or the scope of work change.
